Walt and Judy Crawford hosted the February, 2026 B.A.S.H. meeting on Sunday the 15th at their home in King’s Crossing. Chris Ackman called the meeting to order and thanked our hosts.

Treasurer Walt gave another stellar report on the club finances. Upcoming meetings, special events and competitions were reviewed. Monthly brewing volumes for January were overlooked – we’ll cover January and February during next months’ meeting.

The competition this month was open to any style, with Irish ales featured.  With three competitors, the 1st place beer earned three Homebrewer of the Year points (doubled for Irish ales), 2nd place earned two points (doubled for Irish ales) 3rd place earned one point (doubled for Irish ales) and 4th place and beyond earned no points. Judges’ results were as follows:

  1. Jason Fransham – Irish Extra Stout (BJCP 15C) 43.25/50 – 6 HBOY points

  2. Jason Fransham – Belgian Dark Strong Ale (BJCP 26D) 38.75/50 – 2 HBOY points

  3. Chris Ackman – Dark Mild (BJCP 13A) 37/50 – 1 HBOY points

After 4 of 6 competitions in the 2026 fiscal year, cumulative results are as follows:

As we feasted on lasagna, we consumed the competition beers and sampled Hershel Tritt’s pineapple/coconut mead and peach and orange mead Jello shots. A gazillion commercial beers were shared by Chris (Belching Beaver Tropical Terps Hazy IPA/Tox Pollen Riwaka Pale Ale/Parish Envie American Pale Ale/Alaskan Smoked Porter), Paul Baen (Live Oak Hefeweizen), Jason (Talyard Decorator Dopplebock), Doug Funk (Erdinger Dunkel/Crying Eagle Fruit Stand Fruited Sour/Dragon Stout Fire/Menabrea Bionda), Mark Marshall (Other Half Citrus Snaps Lager/Schilling Palmovka 12 Czech Style Pilsner/Jakobus German-Style Pilsner), Jay Porterfield (Shiner Brewers Pride Dopplebock) and Tom Ormrod (Saloon Door Tasty AF Nitro/Star Shine Shine Bobo Lager).
