Wild Bill Lehfeld hosted the January, 2021 B.A.S.H. meeting on Sunday the 10th at B&J’s Pizza on SPID in Corpus Christi.
El Presidente Jack Heim called the meeting to order and welcomed new members Ron Appelt & Suzette Hufford, Dan Baen & daughter Danielle, Kathy and Dave Clark and Tom Ormrod. Rusty Keyes also rejoined. Business discussion was mercifully almost nonexistent.
As usual for January, we judged the Iron Mash beers brewed in November by four teams at Lazy Beach Brewing. The elite crew of judges tasted the four brews, deliberated and issued the following scores:
Repeat Offenders – Belgian Dark Strong Ale (BJCP 26D) 35/50.
Aleing 4 Some – American Brown Ale (BJCP 19C) – 32.5./50
Rye Not? – Rye IPA (BJCP 21B) – 25.75/50
Leahbrau – Irish Extra Stout (BJCP 15C) – 20.5/50
The Repeat Offenders are thus Iron Mash XVII champions! Members Mark Quade, Mark Woerner and Kevin Nelson donned their bling medals crafted by Tom Freund, hoisted the Iron Mash Cup, posed for victory photos and commenced boasting and bragging. The new team plaque will be engraved and displayed at Lazy Beach Brewing. Thank you to Cory Mathews, Paul Holder, Lara Busch and Tom Freund for running November’s event.
We then feasted on B&J’s pizza provided by Wild Bill, washed down with Iron Mash beers, other homebrews and B&J’s draft, bottled and canned beers. Special thanks are due to Frank Cook of B&J’s who kept the pizzas coming and the drafts flowing.
