May 2021 Meeting Minutes

Jacob Dunson and Cindy Crye hosted the May, 2021 B.A.S.H. meeting on Sunday the 16th at their home in Flour Bluff. We hung out in the garage until the rain ended, then moved to the spacious backyard and pool.

El Presidente Jack Heim called the meeting to order, thanked our hosts and welcomed new members Ron & Cindy Merriman (Cindy’s brother and sister-in-law). Several neighbors also visited. In old business, we discussed the successful Big Brew held earlier in the month and reminded the brewing teams to bring their finished beer to the July meeting. Mary Kay Schultz announced that the June social will be a Hooks baseball game, preceded by a Happy Hour at Brewster Street. We also have officer elections next month for the upcoming 2021-2022 fiscal year.

There was no competition this month. We feasted on pulled pork, washed down with new homebrews from Vic Aguilar (jalapeño Irish red), Jacob (Kölsch/orange ale) Ron (honey blonde/Belgian dark strong/Belgian golden strong with cherries), Jay (blood orange dampfbier/porter) and Richard Ramos (IPA). Large quantities of commercial beers and other homebrews were also consumed.

Those of us who enjoyed the rain-swollen pool encountered no “Baby Ruths”, but had to dodge a couple of drowned face masks. Josie Aguilar taught us all how to dance in a pool with a Labrador retriever.
