Walt and Judy Crawford hosted the August, 2026 B.A.S.H. meeting on Sunday the 9 th at their home (and pool) in King’s Crossing. Vic and Josie Aguilar provided the food. President Vic called the meeting to order and thanked our hosts.

Walt updated us on the treasury status and collected a few dues. In his Secretary’s report, Wild Bill Lehfeld reviewed upcoming meetings, special events and competitions.

Brewing volumes for July are as follows: Chris Ackman -- 5 gallons, Jason Fransham – 3 gallons, Wild Bill – 2.5 gallons, Tom Ormrod – 5 gallons, Hershel Tritt – 3 gallons mead, total = 18.5 gallons. YTD totals for 2026: Chris Ackman – 18 gallons, Vic Aguilar – 34 gallons, Big Brew – 13 gallons, Walt Crawford – 5 gallons, Jason Fransham – 13 gallons, Jack Heim/Carroll Pate/Mike Wojdyla – 5 gallons, Wild Bill – 10 gallons, Tom Ormrod – 33 gallons, Jay/Funks – 27 gallons, Hershel Tritt – 9 gallons mead, Andy Vaughn – 5 gallons, total = 172 gallons beer and mead.

The first competition of the 2027 fiscal year, held this month, was open to any style. Beers finishing 1st , 2nd or 3rd belonging to the featured style (IPA, BJCP 21A-C) earned double Homebrewer of the Year points. With three competitors, 1st place was worth 3 points (doubled for IPA), 2nd place earned 2 points (doubled for IPA) 3rd place earned 1 point (doubled for IPA) and 4 th place and beyond earned zilch.

Results from the rabble of scruffy judges are as follows:

  1. Jason – Rye IPA (BJCP 21B) 40/50 – 6 HBOY points

  2. Wild Bill – “Pliny the Bald” American IPA (BJCP 21A) 38.25/50 – 4 HBOY points

  3. Wild Bill – “Pliny the Fat” American IPA (BJCP 21A) 36.75/50 – 2 HBOY points

  4. Jay/Funks/Mellard – “Chinookie” American IPA (BJCP 21A) 30.25/50 – 0 HBOY points

As we feasted on Vic and Josie’s bratwurst, pork steaks, sauerkraut and red cabbage, we enjoyed the competition beers, Big Brews from May and new homebrews from Hershel (amber braggot) and Joe Wyatt (Bourbon infused Imperial stout). Many commercial beers were shared, but only a few were recorded by our delinquent secretary before he retreated to his favorite watering hole (the pool) -- Jason (Imperial Texan Double Red IPA), Mark Marshall (False Idol Macho Mug Vienna Lager), Tom (Bandera Dark Lager, and Andy (Double Nickel Hazy IPA/Crafty Bastard Tessellation IPA/Oso Madrid

Brewery Citrus Beer/Big Time Stout). This meeting was well attended and all coolers went home empty!
