The January, 2026 B.A.S.H. meeting was held on Sunday the 11 th at Beach Ball Brewing in Flour Bluff, hosted by Vic “The Chili King” and Josie Aguilar. Club President Vic called the meeting to order, thanked Robert and Kelley of Beach Ball and welcomed several new members – Kent Cooper, Jeremy Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Taylor Maclennan, Steve Striegel and Hershel Tritt.

Treasurer Walt Crawford was somewhere tropical, NOT POSSIBLY with our lottery winnings. In his secretary’s report, Wild Bill Lehfeld reviewed upcoming meetings, special events and competitions. Our brewing total for November and December was as follows: Jason Fransham– 9.5 gallons, Iron Mash – 15 gallons, Wild Bill – 5 gallons, Tom Ormrod – 5 gallons, Jay Porterfield/Funks – 9 gallons. YTD totals for 2025: Chris Ackman – 28 gallons, Vic Aguilar – 10 gallons, Big Brew – 9 gallons, Jason Fransham– 26.5 gallons, Jack Heim/Carroll Pate – 5 gallons, Iron Mash – 15 gallons, Wild Bill – 20 gallons, Tom Ormrod – 72 gallons, Jay Porterfield/Funks – 28.5 gallons, Andy Vaughn – 15 gallons, Joe Wyatt– 5 gallons mead. Total for 2025 = 234 gallons (362.25 gallons beer and mead in 2024).

The competition this month was for the beers from November’s Iron Mash XXII team event. Three teams competed – Funky PM (David Funk/Doug Funk/Jimmy Mellard/Jay), Hop Goblins (Chris/Jason/Nick Fransham/Tim Grace) and Team Vic-tory (Vic/Cary Blocker/Will Amaya). Judges’ results were as follows:

  1. Team Vic-tory – American IPA (BJCP 21A) 44/50

  2. Funky PM – Belgian Tripel (BJCP 26C) 39.5/50

  3. Hop Goblins – Dopplebock (BJCP 9A) 38.5/50

Team Vic-tory are thus crowned as Iron Mash champions, snatch the coveted Iron Mash Cup from the Hop Goblins and will be forever enshrined on the Iron Mash champions plaque at Lazy Beach Brewing.

As we dined on Vic’s chili, we consumed the competition beers and sampled Beach Ball’s delicious offerings.
