In new business, we voted to limit entries in future competitions for beers > 10% ABV to one entry per person.
The competition this month was the first of the 2025 competition year and was open to any BJCP style. American IPA/Specialty IPA/Hazy IPA (BJCP 21A-C) were the featured styles. With four competitors, the first place beer received three Homebrewer of the Year points (doubled for BJCP 21A-C), second place received two HBOY points (doubled for BJCP 21A-C) third place received one HBOY point (doubled for BJCP 21A-C) and fourth place and above received no HBOY points. Judges’ results were as follows:
Wild Bill Lehfeld – Rye IPA (BJCP 21B) 41.8/50 – 6 HBOY points
Jason Fransham – Red IPA (BJCP 21B) 41.5/50 – 4 HBOY points
