Walt and Judy Crawford hosted the February, 2025 B.A.S.H. meeting on Sunday the 16th at their home in King’s Crossing. President Vic Aguilar called the meeting to order and thanked our hosts.
Treasurer Walt presented his typical report – Yada, Yada, Yada, lottery ticket. In his secretary’s report, Wild Bill Lehfeld reviewed upcoming meeting hosts and competitions. Our brewing total for January was as follows: Jason Fransham – 2 gallons, Tom Ormrod – 10 gallons, Jay Porterfield/David Funk/Doug Funk – 4.5 gallons.
The competition this month was open to any style. Beers of the featured style (American Amber/California Common/American Brown, BJCP 19A-C) scoring first, second or third receive doubled Homebrewer of the Year points. With three competitors, 1st place received 3 points (doubled for featured style), 2nd received 2 points (doubled for featured style), 3rd place received 1 point (doubled for featured style) and 4th place and beyond received no points. Judges’ results were as follows:
1. (tie) Jason Fransham – American Brown Ale (BJCP 19C) 39.5/50 – 5 HBOY points

Jason Fransham – 25.5 HBOY points
Chris Ackman – 10 HBOY points
Wild Bill Lehfeld – 7HBOY points
Funks/Porterfield – 0 HBOY points
As we dined on Judy’s cream cheese chicken enchiladas, we enjoyed the competition beers and Joe Wyatt’s Sweet Carolina Reaper Capsaicumel Mead. Interesting commercial beers were shared by Jason (903 Texas Tuxedo Porter/Martin House Annexation of Puerto Rico DIPA), David (Tupps Day of the Dead/Bear King Foggy Eyes), Mark Marshall (Schilling American Zoigl), Lou Needleman (Chocolate Lava Cake Stout), Tom (Saint Arnold Pumpkinator/Obolon Kyivske Draft/Classic Mukona/Obolon Extra), Jay
(Maredsous Tripel) and Mark Woerner (Saloon Door I Must Break You Imperial Stout).
Random overheard comments – “I will drink my shame” (Tom), “We’ve traded germs before” (Lou).
