The November 2023 B.A.S.H. meeting was held on Sunday the 12th at B&J’s Pizza on SPID in Corpus Christi.
President Jack Heim called the meeting to order, thanked B&J’s for hosting us and recognized our veterans and active duty service members. Walt Crawford presented the Treasurer’s report and practically guaranteed a lottery win!
In his secretary’s report, Wild Bill Lehfeld reviewed upcoming meeting hosts and competitions. Our tally of brewing volume for October, 2023 was as follows: Jason Fransham – 7.75 gallons, John Fulton – 5 gallons, Wild Bill – 2.5 gallons, Tom Ormrod – 8 gallons, Jon Watson – 10 gallons. YTD totals for 2023: Chris Ackman – 25 gallons, Vic Aguilar – 44 gallons, Roger Barnaby – 5 gallons, Big Brew – 15 gallons, Dave & Kathy Clark – 20 gallons, Walt Crawford – 5 gallons, Jason Fransham – 56 gallons, John Fulton – 15 gallons, Nick Jones – 5 gallons, Sabrina Krueger – 18.5, Wild Bill Lehfeld– 25 gallons, Tom Ormrod – 104 gallons, Jay Porterfield – 11 gallons, Andy Vaughn – 45 gallons, Jon Watson – 10 gallons. Total YTD = 403.5 gallons beer (489 gallons beer, wine and mead in 2022).
In old business, Iron Mash XX at Lazy Beach Brewing went well. Be sure to attend the January meeting where we will taste the results. Jason Dunson is moving to the Dallas area and has asked someone to pick up the B.A.S.H. portable bar. Mary Kay Schultz agreed to contact Jason and arrange a pickup time. Adrian Rodriguez agreed to pick up the bar and the Clarks agreed to store it.
In new business, Mary Kay previewed the upcoming San Antonio brewery tour the weekend of January 5 – 7. Stay tuned for further information.
The competition this month was open to any style. Entries of the featured style (Irish Red Ale, BJCP 15A) scoring 3rd place or higher receive double Homebrewer of the Year points. With three competitors, 1st place earns 3 HBOY points (doubled for Irish Red Ale), 2nd place earns 2 HBOY points (doubled for Irish Red Ale) 3rd place earns 1 HBOY point (doubled for Irish Red Ale) and 4th place and beyond earn 0 points. Results were as follows:

As we feasted on B&J’s pizza courtesy of the club treasury, we reduced homebrew inventory and enjoyed B&J’s draft, bottled and canned beers.
